Site specific exhibition at the Sir John Soane Museum 2008 www.reflection-exhibition.co.uk
What interested me the most in the museum is the use of space, light and, most of all, mirrors. They carry light, reflect the artefacts and create fascinating, deceiving and distorted spaces. My objective was to give a similar feel by creating false mirrors that reflect the viewers into a distorted snap shot of another room. I wanted to create a dialogue within the space and challenge the viewer.
Ce qui m’a le plus marqué dans le musée, c’est l’organisation calculée de l’espace, de la lumière et surtout des miroirs. Ces miroirs plats ou convexes reflètent de fascinants espaces trompeurs ou déformés.
Pour ce projet in-situ j’ai donc créé de faux miroirs (des tableaux interactifs) où le spectateur se reflète dans l’image d’une autre pièce du musée. Ce faisant, un dialogue de correspondances et intrigues s’établit entre l’espace et le sujet regardant.
